Chapter 3 provides guidelines on how to prepare a dissertation
and ultimately go about a research project. Such guidelines include; following
the guidelines of your institution, thinking of a topic that interests you,
using the skills of your supervisor as aid, managing time, developing research
questions and writing your research proposal, preparing your research, doing
research and analyzing the results. In the end, according to the author, it
seems organization is key.
This topic is important for academic research because it
provides a checklist of things that a researcher should partake in, in order to
have an organized and developed thesis.
It is relevant to my thesis investigations, as well as
others, in that it shows the basic steps of how to begin and conclude a research
project. Through this reading one can
reflect on how best to go about each step and begin to organize one’s project.
